DfE-led offers and frameworks

DfE works with providers and buying organisations to help schools and trusts save time and money on things like energy, insurance and supply staff.

All frameworks are open to local authority-maintained schools and academy trusts.

DfE-led frameworks

• DfE’s Energy for Schools

Buy energy through the same contract used by DfE. The supplier buys energy over a longer period, reducing the risk to schools of substantial fluctuations in price.

• Risk Protection Arrangement - alternative to commercial insurance

Get risk protection for your school through a government-backed alternative to commercial insurance. Under RPA, the UK government covers the losses instead of commercial insurance.

• Supply Teachers and Education Recruitment

Hire supply staff through a compliant framework with DfE-negotiated rates and capped supplier fees. From September 2026, all academy trusts must use the framework to hire supply staff.
