Find out what Santander can offer schools and trusts

Santander responded to a Request for Information from the Department for Education and provided the information on this page. Details may be subject to change.

The information provided is aimed at multi-academy trusts. Some local authority maintained schools may also benefit.

Santander offers

  • two current account options as well as instance access, 35-, 95-, 180- and 365-day notice accounts and time deposit savings accounts
  • a current account calculator to find the best option for your organisation
  • support from the Education Relationship Team, made up of Relationship Directors and Relationship Managers with expertise in the education sector
  • use of their auto sweep facility, to receive overnight interest on balances

Santander also offers large multi-academy trusts access to their virtual accounts. Virtual accounts help you manage multiple accounts at once and pool cash to potentially benefit from a higher interest rate.

Switching to Santander

Santander is part of the Current Account Switch Service and can tailor the switch to meet customers’ individual needs. For example, new customers can choose a partial switch and keep their old bank account open.

The account opening process is managed through an online portal with support from their front office team, including a Relationship Director and a Relationship manager.

The process typically takes 10 to 14 days from receiving the necessary information to opening the account.
